Expert Clinical Labeling: Neuro, EEG & Wearable Signals

Done-for-you, expert-led labeling for EEG, neurology, and wearable sensor data, plus gold-standard sets for health AI evaluation. Double-labeled, adjudicated, and reported with inter-rater reliability.

In short: Palo Alto Health Labs, led by Mike Hittle, PhD, provides expert clinical labeling. Done-for-you, expert-led labeling for EEG, neurology, and wearable sensor data, plus gold-standard sets for health AI evaluation. Double-labeled, adjudicated, and reported with inter-rater reliability. For this service, the format is productized labeling engagement, typically 2-week pilot, then ongoing batches, delivered as labels, spec, QC report, datasheet.

Why neuro and wearable signals need expert labels

Most labeling vendors are built for images and text at volume. Neurology and wearable signals are different. A sleep stage, a seizure onset, an MS gait change, or an AF episode in a PPG trace needs labels grounded in clinical context, plus a protocol an epidemiologist would defend. We run expert-led labeling programs designed for that, under a protocol and QC designed by Mike Hittle, PhD (Stanford, epidemiology and clinical research).

What kinds of data do you label?

What's in the 2-week pilot?

  1. Scope and accessA 30-min scoping call and a data-access review (PHI only under a BAA).
  2. Label specificationDefinitions, edge cases, and a decision tree.
  3. Pilot batchA double-labeled pilot batch, sized to your modality and question.
  4. QC reportInter-rater reliability (kappa/ICC), an adjudication log, and an error taxonomy.
  5. Go/no-goPricing for the full program, based on measured throughput and agreement.

How do you ensure label quality?

We use double labeling and expert adjudication, report IRR per class, seed gold-standard items, and review drift on every batch. Each delivery ships with a datasheet so the labels hold up in a publication, an FDA submission, or due diligence.

How is this different from medical data labeling consulting?

Medical data labeling & dataset procurement is advisory: we help you source, de-identify, govern, and design your own labeling program. This offer is the labeling itself, done for you, in neuro and wearable modalities.

Frequently asked questions about expert clinical labeling

What kinds of data do you label?

EEG and neurology data, wearable signals (accelerometry, PPG/ECG, sleep), and clinical text and outcomes, including gold-standard sets for health LLM evaluation.

What's in the 2-week pilot?

Scoping and a data-access review, a label specification, a double-labeled pilot batch sized to your modality, a QC report with inter-rater reliability, and a go/no-go with full-program pricing.

How is this different from your medical data labeling consulting?

Medical data labeling consulting is advisory: we help you source, de-identify, govern, and design your own labeling program. Expert clinical labeling is the labeling itself, done for you, in neuro and wearable modalities.

Can you work inside our environment?

Yes. We can label in your secure enclave or tooling, or in ours under a BAA.

Do you label for model evaluation as well as training?

Yes. Held-out gold sets for evals are a core use.

What does it cost?

Contact us for pricing. Every program starts with the two-week pilot.

Who owns the labels?

You do, along with the label specification and the QC artifacts.
